What does The Canadian Shield look like?


Unlike the Interior Plains, The Canadian Shield is very hilly. It have bodies of water located inside of it, hills and Mountains

The Canadian Shield stretches North from the Great Lakes to the Arctic Ocean, and covers over half of Canada.

There is a wide variety of wildlife in this land form. Some of these animals are the Peregrine Falcon, the Golden Eagle, Barren Ground Caribou, and the Arctic Fox. These animals live in this region because they can stand the cooler climate.

The climate in the Canadian Shield region varies throughout the year. The Canadian Shield region gets 200-300 mm of rain in summer, and 1250-1500mm of snow in winter. The climate in this region can be described as having longer winters and shorter summers.

There are many interesting occupations found in the Canadian Shield region. Some of the major occupations are forestry, making roads and railways, oil and gas, pulp and paper and mining tar. These occupations provide people with roads and railways, gas for their cars, and money to purchase homes and food.

The Canadian Shield region offers a variety of sport and recreational activities. Sporting and recreational activities include fishing, hunting, hiking, and snowmobiling. These are popular activities in this region because there are lots of animals in this region and there is lots of water and snow in the winter.

There are many different cultural groups, many people in this region live in small communities. One of the larger communities is Fort Chipewyan. Some of the larger cultural groups include Canadian, English, and Natives. There are a variety of cultural groups that live in this region.

What do the Interior Plains look like?



The Interior Plains are very flat. They are large bodies of land thats have very minimal hills... on a clear day in the interior plains you can see for miles and miles because they are so flat.

Interior Plains

The Interior Plains are located between the Western Cordillera and the Canadian Shield. It is covered in various types of grasses which makes it good for farming and go for finding wildlife and a good habitate for wildlife.

Occupations vary in this landform, alot of interesting jobs are avalible such as farming, foresty, mining, oil industry and gas industry, these are good paying jobs for this landform.

Climate is up and down, summers are hot and winters are cold. The summers are from 10 degrees celsius to 30 degrees celsius, The winters are from negative 10 degrees celsius to negative 30 degrees celsius

Many Sports and Recreations are available in this landforms with a climate like the one it has, such as; Cross country skiing, skating, swimming, hiking, fishing, jogging, hunting, hockey and soccer. These are popular because there are cold winters and warm summers.

The People that live in the Interior Plains area differ. Many people live in small communities and large cities. Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg are the 3 largest cities. 3 of the largest Cultural groups are the Natives, The Metis and The French
